Bhogali Bihu was celebrated in the presence of 170 Assamese as well as non-Assamese persons.
With various group games/cultural programme like tekeli bhonga, musical chair, mukoli Bihu, modern song performance by Nayanika Hazarika, performance by Dhiraj Borpujari, Bimal Bhattacharya, Bihu dance by Sanju Gogoi, Babita Baruwati, etc., the festive ambience was enjoyed by one and all.
The celebration showcased the true spirit of the Assamese community who are living thousands of kilometres away from their native land. The main attraction, however, was the various delicious dishes prepared and served to the people.
At the end of the celebration, Bimal Bhattacharya, secretary of Asom Association, distributed the prizes to all the winners of the different competitions held on that day.
For the record, ‘Looitporia’ is the backbone of the Assamese community in Hyderabad. It is a non-profit, non-commercial social organisation, which was set up in April 2002 during the Rongali Bihu at Dr S Saharia’s clinic at Panjagutta. It was registered on March 21, 2003 under the Andhra Pradesh Society. Dr S Saharia was the president, Bimal Bhattacharya was the VP and Dr Arup Jyoti Kalita was the general secretary of that time.
The main aim and objective of Looitpuria’s is Socio cultural development, to develop the culture of Assam as well as NE and to help the patients in all possible way coming from Asom as well as all North Eastern state to Hyderabad for better treatment.
It was extends help to the students coming from NE to Hyderabad for higher study by providing necessary information, besides providing service as well as necessary information to the people coming to Hyderabad.
