Sankar jayanti celebrated in London
The programme commenced with nam prasanga, organised by Smt Bhabani Kakati. The Namotees were Bhabani Kakati, Jeeban Tara Baruah, Urmi Medhi, Dhira Hazarika and Rini Kakati. The nam prasanga concluded with the distribution of prasad by Bhabani Kakati and Dhira Hazarika.
Assam Association undertakes commendable works
Later in 1967 it was registered as Assam Association (Regd. No. 3434) and it became more active with the increase in its members. Since its very inception the association has been deeply committed to Assamese literature and culture. Its activities over the years become manifold.
A long-cherished dream of the association turned into reality as the permanent building of its own named Sankardeva Bhavan got functioning this year for which funds where collected both from government and donations from corporate sector and individuals as informed by Monoj Das.

Zubeen the sensational music talent budding in the fertile soils of Assam, was supported and guided by numerous personalities in bollywood in his endeavour to get a foothold there .Artists like Anu Malik, Pritam, Director Mahesh Bhatt, etc are his alma maters who in the due course contributed in many ways during those struggle days. The concert will be a perfect platform for Zubeen to thank those people in an elegant manner.
Chandra Prasad Saikia no more
He was 80 and leaves behind a son and two daughters. His wife Prabina Saikia predeceased him.
Saikia, editor of Assamese literary magazine Goriyoshi published by The Assam Tribune group of newspapers, was instrumental in organizing the first Guwahati Book Fair in 1984, when he was the secretary of the Publication Board, Asom and the fair has become an annual feature now. Saikia received the Sahitya Akademi award in 1995 for his book Maharathi.
Ellora at the International Cuttak Festival
His Excellency Governor of Orissa will inaugurate the evening and present an award to Smt Elora Bora Singh for her contributions towards the field of Dance and Culture. Smt. Elora will also present a dance drama for the festival which will start from the 1st of September to 27th of September. interested people may contact Smt. Elora before 30th July 2006.

Community Information Centre(CIC) and it\\'s Future
Also the recent advancement in the field of Communication and Information Technology creates digital divide between the people of north eastern states and rest of India as there is not enough facilities in accessing ICT services in these areas. Realising this fact the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology set up Community Information Centre(CIC) in August 2002 at the Block Head quarter of each development block of North Eastern State and Sikkim. The main motto of this project was to provide ICT services to rural masses and to improve their socio-economic life.
