Magh Bihu celebrations in New Delhi
A large crowd participated the festivities, despite the biting cold wave that has been sweeping the capital city and the region for more than a fortnight now. Many people opted out to remain in-house fearing cold bite. Bihu is celebrated in Delhi on the succeeding Sunday to the day following the actual Bihu, to facilitate participation of the people who otherwise are not free on the actual bihu day, as the day is not in the holiday calendar of the national capital.

Birth Centenary of Jyotiprasad Agarwala in London
In tune with the rest of the world the Asam Sahitya Sabha, United Kingdom (ASSUK), has been organising local functions to celebrate the Birth Centenary of Jyotiprasad Agarwala of Assam, with effect from 17 June 2002. The finale of the Centenary celebration together with 52nd Silpi Divas and Bhogali Bihu (Assamese Harvest Festival) is to take place on Saturday the 18 January 2003 in London.
Bhogali Bihu celebrated in Dubai
The function, held at the Dubai Creek Park, was attended by over 50 people including children. Apart from Dubai, a few families from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman also took part in the celebrations.
Breakfast was arranged with traditional Assamese delicacies like 'Doi', 'Chira', 'Mithoi','Til Pitha', 'Tilor laru' and 'Narikolor laru' part of which were brought all the way from Assam by Syed Faruk Ahmed.

Legendary folk singer Pratima Pandey dead

Her last rites will be performed at her ancestral home at Gauripur tomorrow with full State honours.
New regional air-service in the Northeast
